Walk To Cure Diabetes - Open Invitation to Join Our Team!

It's walk time again, and we are excited to once again be involved in this wonderful event! Taking part in the Walk is a great experience. Not only will you be making a real difference in helping to find a cure that will change the lives of millions... you'll be having FUN, and getting a good workout too!

First, let us tell you a little about why this cause is so important to our family. Most of you already know that our daughter Lorianne was diagonosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was 11. We participate every year in this wonderful fundraiser to raise money to find a cure for Lorianne as well as millions of others battling this disease every day. Every year, more than 30,000 new cases of type 1 diabetes--the most severe form of the disease--are diagnosed in the United State alone, a large and growing percentage of them children. Day-to-day living is a challenge for people with type 1 diabetes--and multiple insulin injections are only the beginning. But what's even harder is facing the reality of the devastating complications that can stem from their condition.
As you can imagine, it's easy for people with type 1 diabetes to feel that their future is uncertain. But thanks to research funded by organizations such as JDRF, people with diabetes have a new sense of hope. Scientists have made enormous progress, and a cure for type 1 diabetes is now within reach. That's why this is such a crucial time, and why we're inviting all of our family and friends to join us in walking with our team, "The Lorianne Robertson Family Team" to raise money that will speed these scientists toward that cure. Every walker, and every dollar, brings us that much closer.
So please, come join me for this very special day... and a chance to make a real difference! If you can't join us for the walk, but would like to donate any money towards reaching our team goal, please contact me at tabu16@comcast.net, and I will let you know where to send your donation!!!
We'll be walking at Wheeler Farm, Tri-County, UT on August 23, 2008. You can find out more and sign up at: http://walk.jdrf.org/walker.cfm?id=87048528. Thank you so much in advance for any way you can help us to make this a successful walk for our team this year!!!

Grandma's Private Showing!

I got a phone call the other morning. It was Alexa wanting to know if she could come over to our house so we could play "dogs" together. Alexa knows I love to play with her and Grace and Adelle (when she lets me), so of course I said yes. I ended up being Dopey (go figure), she was the Jaguar, and there was a giant dog the kept smashing us. Finally, our magic carpet flew in and we were saved!!! We watched a video (grandma fell asleep while Alexa brought the container of brown sugar and a spoon from the kitchen into the bedroom where we were watching the movie), then we got the video camera, and I was in for a real treat with singing and dancing (notice the video where she is dancing, I'm pretty sure the brown sugar kicked in!)

Alexa's 5th Birthday!

We had a great time celebrating Alexa's 5th birthday on Saturday, July 19th, with a beach theme in our back yard. Alexa's Great-Grandpa and Grandma Mallonee, and Great-Grandpa and Grandma Robertson were able to come. Greg, Michelle and Sam were there, as well as Kayleigh and Shayla Biehn. Her aunts Suzanne, Lorianne and Julianne, and Brent and I were there as well as her family Phil, Marianne, Grace and Adelle were all there to celebrate Alexa's big day! The kids hit a pinata, went swimming, ate nachos and cheese, cupcakes and ice cream. Alexa got some great presents, and was also pretty excited to get her Disney Princess Scooter. We sure love Alexa, and love having her next door so she can "hang out" with us whenever she wants! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETHEART!

Marianne Turns 30!!!

It's hard to believe that Marianne has turned 30! I've told her 30 is the perfect age, and to enjoy it. Someday she'll wish she was 30 again. We celebrated her birthday at Seven Peaks Water Park and had a wonderful time! The weather was perfect, and I was able to spend the day with all of my girls, Phil, Alexa and Grace! We went to Phil and Marianne's house in the evening for cake and ice cream. Perfect day in my book!!!

Luau Robertson Style!

On July 12th we had a Luau at our home with my parents, Lynn and Anna Marie, Phil and Marianne and girls, Scott and Shelly Biehn and girls, and Shelly's sister Sarah. We had Hawaiian food, did a little limbo, went swimming and had a great day! Sarah won the Limbo contest, but we were we surprised at who gave her a run for her money. Scott and Phil were pretty darn impressive at how "low they could go"! Brent and I did the "over 50" limbo! Anytime you mix Robertson's, Olson's, Biehn's and Griffin's, you are bound to have a few surprises and a great party. Shelly poured a pitcher of water on Brent's head (Shelly looks like she is having way to much fun, way to go Shelly!!!). Brent picked her up and dropped her in the pool fully clothed! Next Suzanne jumped in! Phil picked up Julianne and threw her in the pool! Then one by one everyone started jumping in the pool! The only dignified one was me who didn't jump in! (actually I would have, but someone had to watch the babies and take pictures!) It was fun watching everyone play chicken and enjoying themselves!

What Great Guys!!!

We have a wonderful friend Jeff, who is battling bone marrow cancer. Brent has always said that when Jeff lost his hair, he would shave his in support. Well, Jeff lost his hair and Brent stayed true to his word! Friday night it all came off! All of the girls had to get in on the action! We were all pleasantly surprised when my son-in-law Phil decided to show his support to Jeff also, so he was next in the chair, and Marianne buzzed his hair too! Jeff's son-in-law Scott was the first to go under the shaver a few days ago! What amazing guys!!!

A Day in the Life of Julianne and Sarah!

Well, Julianne and Sarah are trying to get as much time in together before Sarah goes back to
California. Julianne is sure going to miss her! They went to Daybreak today for a picnic. Give them a video camera and they'll never be bored! They sure know how to have fun! And boy, listen to that giggling! Oh to be young again!
If you ever see me doing this, it's because I fell off the hill!

New Pictures of Phil, Marianne and Girls!!

Phil and Marianne just had some pictures taken, and wow, did they turn out great. But when the whole family is so photogenic, how can you take a bad picture. Look at the eyes on Alexa and Grace! Grace was born with Spina Bifida, so the one of her standing with Dad and Mom holding their hands is especially touching! They are just as sweet as they are cute!
